Press Release: A winning combination built on confidence: Head & Shoulders announces first-ever South African brand ambassador

Worldwide number one selling shampoo brand, Head & Shoulders, is proud to introduce its first-ever South African brand ambassador, Olympic gold medallist and world record holder, Cameron van der Burgh.

As South Africa’s official Head & Shoulders Confidence Ambassador, the 24-year old local swimming sensation joins the ranks of leading international athletes who have represented the brand, such as swimmer Michael Phelps, Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi, Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao, British cyclist Mark Cavendish, footballer Lionel Messi, F1 racer Jenson Button and various US football and baseball stars.

“Our purpose as Head & Shoulders is to allow men and women to live life uninhibited, through a natural sense of confidence. Cameron is a highly admired athlete who embodies a relaxed and cool sureness, in and out of the pool. He is a great fit for our brand and an ideal ambassador as we continue to connect with South Africans through their passion for sports,” says P&G Brand Communication Manager, Jeanne du Plessis.

Van der Burgh is enthusiastic about coming on board: “Winning isn’t just about preparedness, it’s also about having that unmistakable sense of confidence that tells you that nothing can hold you back. I’m excited to be working with Head & Shoulders to inspire confidence and a sense of possibility for fans everywhere. It’s a brand that’s been part of my life for years – you’ll always find a bottle in my gym bag – so I’m genuinely proud to now be SA’s Head & Shoulders Confidence Ambassador.”

For over 50 years, Head & Shoulders has led the way in scalp care and hair science. While known for its dandruff efficacy, Head & Shoulders offers seven distinct scalp and hair care benefits, including relief from itchiness, dryness and irritation and the removal of 100% of visible flakes, to produce great and healthy looking hair.

Van der Burgh has signed a four-year partnership with P&G, the company behind Head & Shoulders and other leadership brands such as Gillette and Old Spice.
