Looking at the new Patek
Philippe Calatrava Ref. 5227G for men, we can’t help feel like a vintage piece
of chronography has been revisted and somehwta updated. Reminiscent of maybe
your grandfather’s old watch – the one when he gave you looked too simple to be
worth anything more than a ‘Thank You’. Yet now, we’re reminded of just much
value it truly was – and it was offered to you for free.
The Calatrava Ref. 5227G by
Patek Philippe for men is an opportunity for one to express themselves in the
quietest manner. It’s as if the quote, the
pen is mightier than the sword, has just come alive. In its simplicity,
this Calatrava requires nothing from the wearer other than appreciation. It’s
an icon all on its own. With its delicate silhouette, concave bezel and sleek
curvature, this timepiece is eloquent. It’s face, the dial, is open and
uncluttered. The two pointed and faceted Dauphine hands in gold move
effortlessly over the cream-coloured lacquer surface. Dancing, minute to hour,
around the applied trapezoidal markers also in gold. Our most luxury touch from
the watch is the hand-stitched alligator strap with square scales.
If someone had to one day
present us with this Calatrava, we wouldn’t say no. We’d immediately store it
in a safe deposit bank. 81 years after debut, Patek Philippe reminds us once
again why they are masters of the craft. Such timeless quality should be
considered legendary.
