Silvano Lattanzi, founded in Ancora
province of Italy in 1965, painstakingly handcrafted with the Moro monk-strap
model in the world's finest exotic alligator, lizard skin using the techniques that involves a rather
unique practice of aging leather. Lattanzi buries some of his handmade shoes in
an aging pit for four years. It is known as "Scarpe di Fossa”, or
"entombed" shoes.
Each pair is made up, and then put back
together again in a patented method that results in a shoe as light as a
feather, yet which guarantees protection from hot, cold and humid weather.
The shoe is made with the finest perfection the soles are covered in the finest
rare art. Stitched with
custom-made linen twine, the shoes are lined with glove-soft goatskin and
adorned with a rich but discreet gold buckle.
The brand offers ready-to-wear items, however most clients
prefer to make an appointment for a private fitting for their own custom-made
pair, which takes approximately three months to be completed and delivered.
Loafers and lace-ups in antiqued calf-skin and cordovan shell
are among the most popular styles. The quality for Silvano is a
study of forms, choice of materials, and choice of colours, inspired by Van Gough, Monet, and Matisse. In 1974 Silvano was the first
shoemaker to create men's shoes in red, blue, yellow and green which was much
ahead of the times.
The Silvano Lattanzi collection has changed the vision
of shoes. He is the shoemaker who has created some of the footwear industry’s
most heralded designs. It goes from inconspicuous to extraordinary all in a
classy, stylish way. On top of this they are handmade quality from the best
material and therefore deliver the most comfortable walk you will ever have.
There is a shoe for everyone, for every outfit and every situation; created
with harmony, elegance and fashion. This remarkable work has to be part of
every man’s closet.
Silvano
Lattanzi shoes are currently available in South Africa, and the brand is
looking to officially launch them end of March 2014.
