The annual Durban Fashion Fair
is upon us once more. Hosted by the awesome eThekwini Municipality, Durban
Fashion Fair (DFF) returns in 2015 to a new venue – on the SUNdeck at Suncoast.
Fashion lovers can expect four days of opulent fashion from Wednesday, 26
August until Saturday, 29 August. The event in 2015 will culminate with the
inaugural Durban Fashion Awards – an all exclusive, by invitation only event,
appreciating the incredible talent that will grace this year’s fashion extravaganza
and elevating the DFF to a whole new level.
An added element of excitement
to the event is eThekwini Municipality’s investment in fashion in the city.
Their backing of the platform, the work it does and standing behind the idea of
revitalizing the industry is another great example of what standards can be
expected from the event.
“We believe fashion is one of
the job creators. One designer cannot work alone. That’s why each designer is a
wealth creator,” said eThekwini Municipality Deputy Mayor, Nomvuzo Shabala at
the recent opening of DFF at the Suncoast Hotel. “For us, this is definitely
not just about fashion shows. It is about developing young talent through
fashion and reviving the clothing and textile industry in the city. We have
come up with something different – a touch of Africa, exciting home grown
designs and concepts.”
Opening night, Wednesday, 26
August will see menswear take center stage with labels such as House of Saint
Luke, Lekonic, Terrence Bray and Life by Andre Martin. DFF interns hot off
their return from Milan internships will, thanks to Ukhozi FM, present a little
bit of the knowledge and skills acquired in Europe. There will also be a heavy
dose of talented designers such as Duke, Black Pepper, Dax Martin and Colleen
Eitzen.
It promises to be an exciting
four days and we’re all anticipating some great fashion moments in eThekwini.
Tickets are available at Computicket and for more information go to www.durbanfashionfair.com.
