Leaving the right impression
can be the best thing you do for yourself. Artists do it through sometimes
provocative artwork – begging questions about life and meaning and self-worth.
Musicians do it through songs and beats that remind you of very specific and key
moments in life that up until then, had no soundtrack to them. We, fashion
people, do it through style and finding the right language within fashion to
say it with. We don’t always all get it right, but hen it’s right it says a lot
about the wearer. Print, for me, has always leave an impression on myself and I
think it does so too on others. It evokes some emotions and memories and
creates opportunities for one to stand out in a world that is sometimes too
monochrome. The trick with print – unless you’re Chu Suwannapha – is to take it
easy. Wear one or two pieces that you can control with a neutral colour. Always
opt to go bold either upper or lower body; not everyone can manage and handle
bold all over and that hurts us more than you when it happens. Learn to adapt
colour and find prints that suit that personality – that way it becomes easier
for you to wear them.
