The
David Tlale x Boschendal Experience was a beautifully polite weekend extravaganza
that culminated on the Sunday with a sophisticated fashion show of David Tlale
creations with the finale masterpiece dress being the quintessential fashion
representation of Boschendal’s Demi Sec Méthode Cap Classique (MCC): a perfect
combination of sweet (49% Pinot Noir) and savvy (51% Chardonnay). The
Boschendal estate in Stellenbosch was a panoramic set for the event; with its
scenic lush green gardens and the cascading valley mountains in the horizon,
the Cape Town weather played along with a gentle warm breeze and clear sunny
skies.
THE
FASHION
In
true David Tlale style the collection was tailored, hand-crafted, embellished
and consistent. Featuring a surprise guest starring of children’s attire, the
ensemble illustrated tall crystal glasses of bubbles in brut to rosé. Silks and
chiffons were the order of the day with nuances of feathers and beads making
appearances. The menswear was refined, hinting to influences and inspirations
of Asian descent. Some style notes from the collection include long, sensual
slits at the back of dresses, elaborate tiered sleeves and voluminous dresses.
THE
DRESS
The
dress of the moment was an elegant slither of chiffon-silk featuring a somewhat
abstract floral print in hues of green, tinges of yellow gold and fresh
splashes of blue. With a young sweetheart neckline dropped to below the
shoulders, David added a stitch of glamour with plump balloon sleeves with a
red carpet-ready cape-trail. Happy [the model] was feature accentuated with
garden party savvy gold sandals with rose detail and her hair was fascinated with
gold oriental chandeliers.
THE
PEOPLE
David
Tlale’s Boschendal Experience was attended by a melting pot of locals and
visitors from out of town. From fashion veterans such as Jackie Burger of
Salon58 and Didier of Magents, TV personalities such as Danine Naidoo to
Instagram celebrities and fashion photographers and of course, not forgetting
the avid David Tlale consumers who continue to support the brand with every
social highlight they attend.
Overall
the David Tlale Experience with Boschendal made for a wonderful day out in the
sun and a fantastic opportunity to play catch up with industry folk that one
hardly gets the chance to meet over coffee considering how busy people’s
schedules can get. Here’s to Boschendal and their deliciously sweet Demi Sec
MCC, “Cheers!”.
