The Ackermans Style Squad 2015
Competition has opened. It’s back for its second year, after a successful 1st
year run in 2014. What is Style Squad, you ask? It’s simple: It’s Ackermans’
online blogging competition. The search for 20 of South Africa’s young, up and
coming fashion interest bloggers; 10 boys and 10 girls, complete a series of
tasks and challenges, all in the bid to be that ultimate winning Style Squad
member – who also happens to walk away with R15 000 cash! There may be twenty
in the beginning, but at the end – there can only be one.
We are small-time bloggers and
a platform that promotes this form of expression is a friend of ours. And, over
and above that – our Editor, Monde Mtsi, is one of the judges! Yay! Boom! Life
just got served to you.

the judges:
Dineo Moeketsi – Actress/Singer/Dancer/TV Presenter
This stunning celebrity is hot property on
the SA entertainment scene. Not only is Dineo Moeketsi a seasoned TV
presenter, but also a talented performing artist. Dineo always remains true to her roots. "I've learnt
that no matter how well things go in your life, you have to stay
humble and true to yourself, consider others and remember where you come
from."
Candice Robinson – Fashion Editor at Ackermans Club Magazine
Candice confesses: "I owe my
introduction to the endless possibilities of fashion to my Grandmother. When I
was 7 years old she gave me my first sewing lesson and by 10 years old I
was making my own clothing." As far as this trendy fashion Editor can
remember, she has always loved fashion and how it makes a person feel; "I
adore the freedom, confidence and creativity in wearing something you
love".
Monde Mtsi – Fashion Blogger
Born in Cape Town, raised in Langa
Township, Monde has worked hard to be where he is and continues to strive
to make a mark in the fashion scene in South Africa. Monde currently spends his time as
copywriter at an award-winning advertising agency, growing his blog and
working as a personal stylist. “My life is as magical as I make it.” Being
part of the Style Squad judging panel is exciting, as I now get an opportunity
to be part of history in the making. We will be moulding the next generation of
amazing SA creatives – and there’s nothing more thrilling and honourable
than that.”
Neil Roberts Mayne – Fashion Photographer
"Fashion is my life!" Neil
Roberts exclaims excitedly. This talented fashion photographer discovered
fashion and photography as a model, when he was lucky enough to travel to
the fashion capitals of London, Milan and Paris. Since then, he has never
looked back – exploring all the different avenues of the business, from
producing to photography and directing. Neil is not the kind of guy who likes
talking too much about himself. He would rather spend his time and energy doing what
he likes best – taking epic pics!
Angelique Jansen van Rensburg – Art Director/Fashion Stylist
Fashion has a fan in this Art
Director and Fashion Stylist. Angelique Jansen van Rensburg is an international
local creative whose love for style has been inspired through her
childhood. Angelique's
success in her career is partly credited to her ability to mix and match
textures, colours, moods and inspirations, to foresee trends and to be capable of
applying them to her work to create new images within fashion. "It's
important to dream big", she says. "Surround yourself with beautiful
things, be comfortable in your own skin and rock absolutely anything you
wear."
