Rooted in the township of
Gugulethu, Our Home, in Cape Town, the young street wear brand, T-Squared seeks
to provide locally produced wearable’s for the student and first-time working
class market. Fusing trendy street style elements with the essence of ilokishi*,
T-Squared creates a fresh approach to clothing brands established and
functioning out of townships. Many are born but only a few survive the tough
journey of developing and growing into a sustainable brand. The brand was
inaugurated in 2008 by the current Creative Director, Thabiso Mokomele, whose
vision of building a local brand from his place of birth has subsequently come
true thanks to his own belief and hard work.
“Our mission is to expand our
brand nationwide,” gleams Thabiso Mokomele. “We are striving to be a local
leader in this industry and we know this won’t happen overnight. Hard work and
commitment is definitely required.”
T-Squared has recently launched
their winter collection which is available from their pop-up store in
Gugulethu. Stay part of their conversation with the hashtag
#HandCraftedGarmentsSince08.
