The city is buzzing with creativity as
Cape Town celebrates its prestigious World Design Capital title and in
celebration acclaimed designer Craig Port has labeled 2014 ‘The Year Of
Design’. With plans to team up
with likeminded creatives from across a multitude of design platforms Port
looks forward to exploring an array of contrasting projects and engaging
collaborations that showcase the best of local talent.
Port
ignites ‘The Year of Design’ with an explosive fashion editorial shot by Cape
Town’s hottest photographer duo KOPE | FIGGINS. “I am a huge fan of KOPE | FIGGINS fresh approach to
photography. Their images are unexpectedly beautiful and effortlessly edgy and
I was really excited to see their interpretation of my work. Jarred and
Jonathan’s style really compliments my design aesthetic which is fundamental to
the success of any creative collaboration,” explains Port.
The
shoot was conceptualised by Jonathan Kope and Jarred Figgins and styled by
fashion editor and freelance stylist Bee Diamondhead. "This was an
opportunity to have complete free reign to pick through the PORT archive, and
do with it what we pleased. Speedos, oil, great models, minimal styling and a
slightly off kilter location all combined into something quite sexy,” says the
duo.
The
images are a true celebration of the edgy yet polished work coming out of South
Africa and selected images were featured as an editorial exclusive on
international online magazine Fucking Young!
