Three decades worth of heritage
has been revisited and reincarnated by adidas Originals. The 80s, 90s, and 00s.
Taking an iconic running sneaker from each decade, adidas Originals then
revamped its look for a much more contemporary feel without losing any of the
original heritage and design. Three decades require three cities to launch them
in and with that, comes three short films by one modern cinematographer – Chris
Saunders.
In Cape Town, adidas Originals
launched the ZXZ ADV from the 80s.
Retro in existence, the sneaker with classic mesh, vintage suede and
reflective stripes design saw it come back in three summer-prepped colour ways.
Johannesburg played host to the adidas ZX 5000 running shoe launch. This baby
was first released in 1989 and found itself established as the ideal middle to
long distance runner shoe. Durban, the final launch pad in this race through
time saw the launch of the Adizero Adios 2. Featuring a mix of premium
fabrications such as soft leather and nubuck, this range showcased three
casual-inspired styles.
